If there is someone living in my property in Broward County FL and I don’t have a lease with them and they are not paying rent, what are my rights as the owner of the Property?
Many times in Broward County FL or any city in South Florida, a homeowner has someone living in the property that was either invited by another tenant without the owner’s knowledge or simply stays in the property without a lease and are not paying rent. As the owner of the home, you have the right to remove them. The process is known as an Unlawful Detainer Action. This is different than an eviction because a lease is not involved and rent is not being paid. It is very important that if you are going to try and remove someone that is not paying rent and living in your property that you file the proper paperwork in Court. This is not an Eviction!
